Discussion Post:Case Studies Review

Case Studies Review *uploaded papers for examples*
Will apply
Learned about Maturing Out, Contingency management, and family treatment models,
Social Models, (paper not done yet can upload if need when completed)

In Units 2, 3 and 4, you completed assignments on the application of different models of addiction to case studies. You were given the option of choosing different cases for each of the assignments or selecting one case and addressing it in all of the assignments. Your insights will be based on what you decided. The purpose of this discussion is two-fold:

Explain your insights of what you learned by doing these assignments.
Compare and contrast your insights with your peers. There are a variety of ways this can be done, simply because some of your peers will use one case study for all assignments, while others will use different case studies. In addition, some will use a case study you did not use, while others will use a case study you did use.

The Social Models

The Social Models
For this assignment, imagine you are a family therapist working in an addictive behavior treatment program. Select one of the case studies to represent your "client," who is seeking help from your program. You can use one that you used in the previous assignments, or you can choose to use a different one.

Educational Psychology

This is a Graduate Higher Paper

Write two short essays in response to the following questions.  Remember to define all jargon and use examples to clearly illustrate their meaning.

1. Design an applied behavioral analysis for a classroom problem. Include group consequences, contingency contracts, token economies, and functional behavioral analyses. Make sure to use the jargon from the textbook to help clearly illustrate their meaning.

2. Is the digital computer an appropriate model for the human information processing system? Give reasons why the fit is appropriate and why it is not. Consider some of the implications of the victory of Deep Blue (a computer chess master) over the world champion Garry Kasparov.

The Study of Body Motion or Body Behavior

KINESICS: the study of body motion or body behavior.
Emblems: gestures that have a direct verbal translation and can stand alone such as the ok sign.
Illustrators: gestures that complement our words such as pointing when giving directions.
Regulators: gestures that may prolong or terminate the conversation such as looking at your watch, walking away, or nodding and leaning forward.
Adaptors: gestures that make you feel more comfortable in a communication situation such as twirling your hair or tapping your fingers.
Affect Displays: facial expressions motivated by emotion such as a smile or frown.
In this lesson, you will venture out and observe the people around you. Tune out what they are saying and then sit back and watch. Take notes on what type of gestures (emblems, regulators, illustrators, adaptors and affect displays) are they using? How often do they use each one? Are they aware of these gestures? You will then use your notes to write a typed two-page essay de

Guidance and Discipline

Directions: Be sure to make an electronic copy of your answer before submitting it to Ashworth College for grading. Unless otherwise stated, answer in complete sentences, and be sure to use correct English, spelling and grammar. Sources must be cited in APA format. Your response should be four (4) pages in length; refer to the "Assignment Format" page for specific format requirements.
Lets say you have been reflecting on your first few weeks as a preschool teacher. You often find yourself asking yourself things like, Is this child just grumpy, or is there something more going on? Why arent the children cooperating? How can I manage this negative behavior that is occurring? Is there something more I can do? With that in mind, consider the scenarios in Part A and Part B.
Part A
Three-year-old Tommy is crying and upset because he cant draw a truck like Sams.
For this scenario
Determine the cause of the behavior. Provide one (1) supporting fact to justify your answer, c

In this brief (3-5 page) paper, you will use both the structural and human resource frames to explain and make sense of an organizational mini-case with which you are familiar (note: this must be an education organization). The mini-case might derive from an organization you now work in or have worked in, or from a published case you are interested in. In writing this piece you are answering the questions: in what ways does the case display the concepts at work? How do the different ways of viewing the case uncover or highlight what is actually happening in the organization?

For this assignment you will write a 2-3pages (single-spaced; 1500 words) narrative essay about an instance of learning (or teaching) about your particular interest (pet community) that took place somewhere other than a school setting. The goal is to think about how the experience contributed to your learning in ways that we dont see in classroom spaces. This is because we will continue to hone our research skills as we observe at different sites, and on the electronic sites in the internet. You should be clear about how the learning happened in this place by connecting it to our course readings (at least 3 citations related to learning and development should be included). Use APA formatting and include a reference page (not included in the length requirement). If it helps to compare and contrast your learning experience to a more formal learning setting (i.e., the classroom), you can do this, but be careful! The comparative analysis may limit what you are able to say about the uncommo

Changing Behaviors

REMEMBER THIS IS A CONTINUANCE FROM THE LAST 2 PAPERS YOU'VE DONE
Continue to take baseline measurements on your behavior. Remember to measure behavior without trying to make any changes at this point.
Discuss at least five positive punishments that would be effective for you personally.  Remember that positive punishment is something you dislike that is added to your environment because you did not meet a goal.  Examples might be: having to do additional chores, a scolding, doing pushups (assuming you dislike all of these).
Discuss at least five negative punishments that would be effective for you personally.  Remember that negative punishment is removing something that you like because you did not meet a goal.  Examples could be loss of cell phone, no dessert, paying a fine and losing money, loss of television time (assuming you like all of these).
