Lesson Planning with Universal Design for Learning

Among the most important aspects of English language proficiency development are the integration of ELL cultural values and beliefs into instruction and the differentiation of instruction to address specific learning needs of all students.

For this assignment, you will create an English language arts lesson plan that integrates the cultural values and beliefs of ELLs and utilizes components of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Using the COE Lesson Plan Template and the Class Profile, create at least one learning objective for your chosen level of students between grades K-12 that aligns with both Arizona ELP and ELA standards.

Your lesson plan should include:

Differentiated instructional strategies and learning activities to address students language differences, giftedness, and special education needs (as listed on the "Class Profile")
Incorporation of technology to support English lang

Utilizing appropriate strategies that incorporate summarizing skills helps to increase students reading comprehension skills.

Part 1: Strategies

Research and summarize, in 250-500 words, a minimum of five strategies for teaching adolescent students with deficits in their reading comprehension skills. Identify the conditions under which the chosen strategies are intended to be delivered (e.g., content area, class setting, required resources, if intended for a specific type of disability).

Support your findings with 2-3 scholarly resources.

Identify a group of 2-3 eighth grade students, using the Class Profile, who would benefit from additional instruction on reading comprehension s

Review all articles uploaded. Summarize the main points of each article in 4-6 bullet points. Each point must be at least 100 words in length. Try to showcase the findings, relevant literature, main points. trends, and recommendations. Use the instructions document to organize your findings. Incorporate your notes into the sections of the introductions document. Notes that don't go into a specific category in the document should be put at the end of the document.
