Foundations of ESL (and Bilingual) Education Final Paper
The goal of this research project is to develop an understanding of how models of bilingual and ESL education are implemented and to use the knowledge gained in the course to analyze the overall effectiveness of specific types of bilingual programs. Students will select a program model and discuss the policies and guidelines that inform program implementation, the instruction and services that the model provides to bilingual and multilingual students, and compare this model to other forms of bilingual education. The paper will include information obtained from course readings and class lectures and discussions. Graduate students will also identify research articles to support their understanding of the program model they are discussing (3 research articles).
A researcher is interested in understanding if a particular medication is effective at treating patients suffering from a skin condition.
Design an experimental study to test whether the medication is effective. To do this, you should describe:
What is the research question you are investigating? (Hint: this is basically mentioned above)
Identify the independent variable and dependent variable.
Identify the sample and how you would conduct the actual study.
Describe what you would need to know to decide whether the medication was effective.
Describe the limitations to your study, based on the design you described.
Your paper should be in paragraph form and be between 2-3 pages.
Answer the following questions in paragraph form using the text I provide only.
1.Describe the Social Readjustment Rating Scale.
2.Explain the physiological basis of stress and describe the general adaptation syndrome.
3.Describe the basic features of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
4.Describe the main features and prevalence of obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and hoarding disorder.
5.Identify and differentiate the symptoms of dissociative amnesia, depersonalization/ derealization disorder, and dissociative identity disorder.
6.Discuss psychotropic medications and recognize which medications are used to treat specific psychological disorders.
Choose three of the following neurological issues.
Attention/concentration
Learning/memory
Speech/language
Spatial/manipulatory ability
Executive function
Manipulative speed and accuracy
For each of the three issues selected above, address the following:
Identify possible brain structures that may be associated with impairment in functioning
Identify at least two neurological tests (or specific subscales, if applicable) that could be used to test for impairment in functioning
Explain how each neurological test (or subscale) is administered
Explain how possible impairment is identified by each particular test
In this case study, you will analyze a testing scenario using your knowledge of testing and ethics.
Part A: Review the Case
A college counselor for a large university helps students select careers matched to their personalities. She uses computer administered personality tests as the primary source of information. The counselor uses the assessment with all students who seek counseling. Qualitative interviews are not part of the assessment process.
Part B: Case Analysis
In a 5-6 page paper, addressing the following information:
1. Describe your immediate reaction to the scenario. What are the details you immediately noticed? What questions did the scenario raise about testing?
2. Identify and explain 3 factors that impact performance on objective tests.
3. Identify and discuss 3 reliability and validity concerns with the scenario.
4. Identify and explain at least 3 ethical concerns as per the APA Ethical Codes and how you would resolve the concerns.

This week's Literature Review draws upon Week 4's Annotated Bibliography assignment.
What is it?
A literature review provides an overview of the relevant findings, constructs, theories, etc. associated with any given topic. A solid literature review will identify patterns, themes, conflicts, gaps, etc. in the available scholarship by analyzing and synthesizing the research.
Requirements
For this specific assignment, you are to synthesize the research you found for the Week 4 Annotated Bibliography assignment. Do not simply copy the annotations you did for the Week 4 assignment; that is not a literature review. Rather, you are to review and synthesize the research you have found into a cohesive discussion on your selected topic.
The literature review should be submitted as a Word document and include the following:
(a) title page, (b) literature review, and (c) reference list.
Write a 4-5pg paper about a psychological disorder and human behavior. You will pick one specific disorder to focus on and do the following:
1. Define the disorder and discuss common symptoms
2. Discuss the common causes of the disorder
3. Explain how the disorder could affect human behavior
4. Examine 2 people suffering from the disorder and discuss how it affects them
5. Discuss treatment options and which one you personally recommend
Your final product will be some kind of multimedia project (i.e., website, podcast, video, slide deck, Prezi, etc.) that reviews a form of critical digital literacy. Synthesize what is known about this literacy, how people enact it in daily life, and how one goes about learning this literacy. You are welcome to build upon the self-analysis you did in Mapping Your Daily Media Round, especially to describe the personal relevance of this form/topic. Please consider each part of the term: Why is it critical? Why is it digital? What makes it a literacy?
Include a reference list that supports your overview of the form you select and other pieces that advance your analysis. Please be sure to include at least five readings/key concepts from the course activities.
Below is a list of possible forms of critical digital literacies you may choose from:
digital activism
digital mapping/"maptivism"
making
blogging
digital citizenship/civic engagement

Use the paper and convert it into a PowerPoint with the following instructions. Please do not fill each PowerPoint slide with lots of info. I will use what you write for a script.
For example, Mental health problems may be a bullet point but do not elaborate a lot I will use the script you write for it
also if you see the teacher's comments that need to add more, please make sure to add. for example my paper does not add a solution which the presentation needs a solution,
I added the rubric on a templet powerpoint to just add on
the extra slides are for the script. only use 4 slides
In this assignment, you will combine all of the information you have learned this week to evaluate a teaching scenario. For each learning context, you will be observing a teacher in the classroom. After watching the video, answer the questions, based on your context, using the information from the week as your guide. Respond to either the K-12 or adult learning questions, but not both.
To structure your writing,
Your audience will be another group of colleagues and/or a teaching supervisor. You are reporting on how the teaching/ideas are best-practice based on what you have learned so far.
Your role is that of someone who is observing teaching practices of an ELL teacher.
The format will be an essay.
The purpose is to evaluate the teaching practices for best-practices, according to research (class content you have learned so far)
