Girl & Girlhood studies

Below is the description of the assignment, I have attached some materials below

Now it is time for you to reflect on and apply what you have learned in this module. Ruth Nicole Brown (2009) sates,

Although SOLHOT looks to outsiders like a program, meaning that we meet for a specific time in a particular space, it is not. Although SOLHOT looks to outsiders like mentoring, meaning that we work with Black women and girls, it is not. Although SOLHOT looks to outsiders like girl empowerment, meaning that it is a positive gender-specific (or exclusionary) space, it is not (p. 26).

In the quote, she mentions three things SOLHOT is not, it is not a program, mentoring, or girl empowerment.  Brown (2009), goes on to articulate the idea of power not programs, and take a critical stance about youth empowerment as a model of working on youth which often fails youth.

Responding to the quote and the reading,  provide a reflection about SOLHOT.

Classroom Applications-ESOL

Step 1. Choose a lesson.
From the set of lesson plans provided in the Approaches to Teaching ELs, choose one lesson. Thoroughly read the background material about the particular approach to teaching ELs that your lesson is drawn from as well as the actual lesson you selected. Make sure to choose just one lesson for your analysis.

Step 2. Identify 1-2 connections to theories.
Reflect on the language acquisition theories we have explored in this class. (Possible theories are listed below. Refer back to Module 3 - Learning Materials for relevant learning materials, as well as the Module 7 - Discussion/Activity). Identify 1-3 language acquisition theories that you see reflected in the strategies and activities present in the lesson you chose.

Van Lier & Walqui's model of Language as Action (Van Lier & Walqu's theory of language as action is one example of a sociocultural theory. See the video of Ada Walqu in Module 3, as well.)

Functional Behavioral Assessment Project

Functional Behavioral Assessment Project with PBS:
This paper will be a summary of a problem based scenario, in which the student will identify at least one student with ASD or other developmental disability in need of a specialized intervention program.  Based on information presented in class and in the literature, the student will go through the steps of conducting a FBA and design a

Social Influence

PURPOSE: A research proposal is an important document that provides a detailed description of your research project. Proposals can vary in terms of structure and style, depending on the purpose, methodology and audience. A good proposal should be clear, well written, well justified in terms of topic and method, and have a clear timetable and well-developed budget (if you are applying for funding).

TASK: For your final assignment in PSYCH 2: Research Methods, you will submit a 2x2 between-subject factorial design experimental proposal based on the topic assigned to you at the beginning of the semester. I have posted examples of a past student literature review (Introduction Example.pdf). While you start the process of structuring your introduction and literature review of your proposal, please use this as a tool to help you structure yours and elaborate on to understand the purpose of those sections (Literature Review 101.pdf).

CRITERIA: Before submitting please make sure

Theories of Personality – Psychology – Movie Analysis

Write a 2-3 page paper analyzing the personality of a main character from the movie you selected to watch outside of class. Select two theorists that we have discussed so far in class whose theories you feel could adequately be used to understand the main characters personality.  I am looking for a well-developed, analytical paper that includes an introduction, body, and conclusion.

Expectations: There are many different approaches you could take to this paper.  For example, you could choose to describe different personality type/trait theories and discuss which types/traits are present in the main character.  You might instead choose to hypothesize as to how the main character developed in their personality, discussing how their behavior today may have been caused by certain previous experiences according to different theories.  You could also discuss the issue of psychological health or pathology in the main character, highlighting different theorists a
