Module Synopsis
This is a work-based module that enables participants to integrate the learning that has taken place on the programme with the intention of implementing practical innovation and improvement within the workplace. Participants will be introduced to a variety of business and service improvement techniques ranging from creative thinking through to diagnosis, analysis, problem solving, managing change, planning and implementation. The main aim of the module is to allow participants to identify and diagnose areas of improvement relative to the workplace, and to recommend workable solutions to work- related organisational issues and problems.
The module builds upon the skills developed within level one of the programme. It allows participants to negotiate the content with the tutor and a workplace mentor to ensure that it is individually tailored to the aims of their project and their personal development needs. Participants are expected to draw upon the knowledge gained from level one and complementary level two modules. They are expected to contextualise the learning undertaken from the taught component of the programme, and to integrate the links between theory and practice, within the context of their own working environment. The module has been designed to help develop the technical and social skills and the fundamental knowledge to successfully complete a simple work-based project. Social skills will be developed through an exploration the individual and groups.
