Poetry analysis

A poetry analysis must have 5 paragraphs.  The following is a detailed outline of each paragraph:
1. Introduction (Background Info and Thesis)
2. Body Paragraph One (First Poetic Device)
3. Body Paragraph Two (Second Poetic Device)
4. Body Paragraph Three (Third Poetic Device)
5. Conclusion (Review of Main Points)

1.  Introduction:  5-7 sentences
Brief Summary Write four sentences that provide background information about your poem (What is the poem about? When was it written?). Include the title and information about the author of the poem.
Thesis statement a three-part statement that makes a claim and gives 3 reasons, examples, or topics that present the topic of your essay.  (the last sentence in your introduction paragraph)
    Edgar Allan Poe uses _______, _______, and _______, (insert three different poetic devices) in _____________ (insert name of poem) to (illustrate, convey, reveal) (insert the main idea or purpose of the poem).

2.  Body Paragraph 1:  7-10 sentences
Use a topic sentence to begin your paragraph.  Start with a transition. 
Chose the first poetic device and discuss THREE examples from the poem.
Explain how the device signifies/expresses meaning.

3.  Body Paragraph 2:  7-10 sentences
Use a topic sentence to begin your paragraph.  Start with a transition.
Chose the second poetic device and discuss THREE examples from the poem.
Explain how the device signifies/expresses meaning.

4.  Body Paragraph 3:  7-10 sentences
Use a topic sentence to begin your paragraph.  (Do not use the word third to start this paragraph.)
Chose the third poetic device and discuss THREE examples from the poem.
Explain how the device signifies/expresses meaning.

5.  Conclusion:  5-7 sentences

Restate your main points.
Explain why the author felt the topic discussed in the poem was important.
Explain how the topic/main idea of the poem relates to the real world. 
Leave your reader something to think about.

Do not use the words:  in conclusion, in my opinion, or lastly in this paragraph. 

Tips:
Use quotes from the poem in each paragraph. 
Use a quote from the poet in the introductory paragraph.
Intro. must have a hook, a bridge, supporting sentences, and a thesis
Use at least 2 transitions per paragraph.
Conclusion must not have any new information.  It must not repeat the introductory paragraph, as well.  However, it must be a summary of your entire essay.
