Before presenting the first case assignment, here are some strategies for achieving higher grades on your assignments:
1. Address all stated objectives to the appropriate degree of a given assignment. Review the points that are distributed to each question and focus more on those questions that have higher point value.
2. Organize your paper by using headings/subheadings that correspond with the questions (as shown in the case assignment expectations below). Do not copy the entire question as a heading, though.
The Diet
You represented your organization at a health fair recently. One of the people who came to your display table told you about a “nutritionist” whom his neighbor went to see a few months ago. The nutritionist helped the person lose 40 pounds in the first month. He reported that the nutritionist recommended a low carbohydrate, high protein/high fat diet, and is now asking that you help him develop a meal plan for that diet. You tell him you are a health educator, and you recommend that he see a Registered Dietician.
In a two to three page paper, address the following areas:
1. The person asks you what the difference is between getting advice from you as a health educator, from a nutritionist, and from the Registered Dietitian. Please explain this to him, paying special attention to education/licensure/certification requirements of the "nutritionist" and the "Registered Dietician." (worth 25 percent of your paper’s grade).
2. Explain what the role of each of the macronutrients is, and what their functions are (worth 25 percent of your paper’s grade).
3. Explore the “pros” and “cons” of a low carbohydrate, high protein/high fat diet (worth 25 percent of your paper’s grade).
4. Consider some of the health risks and side effects that a low carbohydrate, high fat/high protein diet can have on body systems (worth 25 percent of your paper’s grade).

Assignment Expectations, in order to earn full credit:
Please write your paper in your own words. That is the only way I can evaluate your level of understanding.
In order to earn full credit, you must clearly show that you have read the module homepage and ALL required background materials.
You are welcome to do research in addition to — but not instead of — the required readings.
