In your topic proposal, you will identify the industry or policy setting that you have
chosen to study. In addition, you will present a summary of the game that you think best
represents the strategic interaction of the players. This summary should identify: the key
decision makers; the main action choices from which each player is choosing; the
incentives of each player; and a proposed method of modelling the strategic interaction,
such as using the extensive form to represent a sequential-move game, or the normal
form to represent a simultaneous-move game. For the proposal, this summary may be
verbal; in the final paper, the extensive form (game tree) or the payoff matrix (or
matrices) should be presented. You are required to submit two hard copies of your
proposal. I will review your proposal, as will one of your classmates, as described below. Peer Review (Submit

After I receive the topic proposals, I will group proposals together that cover common
topics or game-theory methods. During this process, I will assign each student a proposal
to review that is related to their own proposal. On Wednesday, March 5th, I will
distribute one proposal to each student for review. Read through the proposal that you
have received, and prepare a written review for the author. In your peer review, you
should summarize the main objective of the author�s proposal. You should identify
strengths of the author�s proposal and also offer suggestions, including possible
alternative approaches to the topic or extensions to the proposed topic. You should
submit one copy of your review to the author, and one to me, on the due date.
Classroom Peer-Review Session, Attendance Required: Wednesday, March 19th.
On Wednesday, March 19th, students will be assigned to groups of approximately 3-5
students, based on the proposed topics of study. Each group will engage in a discussion
session during a portion of the class period. The discussion period will begin with each
student informally summarizing to the group his or her topic and the approach that he or
she plans to take in modelling the relevant strategic interaction. After each student has
presented his or her topic to their group members, the group will engage in a discussion
of each group member�s topic for the remainder of the class time period allotted. Each
group should organize the available time such that each student�s topic receives a fair
share of the discussion time.
