I know that some people are sort of "Covid - over it" at this point in time, but not Sociologists - who study and attempt to understand not only people's behavior and attitudes, but how the norms of our society are established and how they change. As folks in my field look at society and hear people make reference to what will become the new normal, we think of a new normal in terms of social norms and how social norms might change.
I would like you to keep thinking like a Sociologist now and focus on norms (norms are the rules of society that we learn through instructions from the adults who rear and influence us [families, friends, teachers, etc.]). These norms help us know how to be, how to act, and what is expected of us. As we get a bit older, we are likely to find others who we consider role models - who emulate other norms for us. In other words, we continue to be influe
"Write an essay (with introduction and conclusion) on the suggested topic.
Your introduction should include the thesis statement - main idea of the paper (here is more detailed explanation - https://essayshark.com/blog/how-to-write-a-thesis-statement-to-make-it-clear/). Don't include any new information in the conclusion. It should restate the thesis statement of the paper.
Support your ideas with relevant arguments and examples (in-text citations). List 2-3 sources in the references. Make sure you stick to a required formatting style. Get benefits of these sources citationmachine.net and easybib.com.

Consider why persons with disabilities are considered a vulnerable population. Share with others experiences you may have had with individuals born with a physical ailment, children or adults with cognitive delays, people who may have suffered a traumatic brain injury (i.e. possibly due to an accident, effects from war, etc.). What have you learned about challenges that impact their lives, that you may not have considered without this personal experience? Research programs that exist (America, or globally) to better integrate persons with disabilities into society and mitigate the disparities they face. Develop your own list of opportunities/programs/activities that can better support people with various disabilities. Consider the Micro and Macro approach to your thinking, and develop at least one idea per level. Why do you feel these may be viable solutions? What may be some of the barriers that these ideas face?
Elder abuse in America, and around the world, is a social problem

Students will complete a Community/SWOT assessment on a community/entity of their choice. Instead of writing a paper, students will complete a SWOT table and give a 5 minute presentation summarizing key findings and insights.
This assignment will be graded based on the rubric provided below (list of questions with assigned point value). The information reflected in the rubric needs to be expressed in the student's presentation and the SWOT table collectively. In other words, students can give details regarding their interviews in the presentation (and then are not obligated to provide this information in the SWOT table).
The rubric is attached (see below).
In order to make a SWOT table, please see the following links for examples. Please design a SWOT table in a Word document and upload this in addition to your video presentation.
Discussion Questions
How do your own cultural beliefs impact your approach to providing substance use disorder counseling services to clients of diverse backgrounds?
Is there a particular ethnic or religious group that will provide a more substantial challenge to you than others?
Does the criminal justice system have a role in the treatment process?
Have substance use disordered offenders been treated effectively (at all?) by the modern private for profit correctional system?
Summarize and comment on Conley's research on the Elkhorn and Nexus programs. What was the bottom line there?
Respond to each discussion question/topic with a meaningful and thoughtful response.
Remember, you may assume a conversational style on the discussion boards. You can use first-person references such as 'I' and 'my.' For example, your discussion responses can say, 'What I found was...' and 'In my experience, I learned that...' or, 'What I was left wondering was...'

One of the standard steps in producing a scientifically verifiable research study is to conduct a review of the existing literature. However, as we debated in the first Discussion, authority and documentation are sources of knowledge that may have their weaknesses. Written treatises are not infallible and may lack the empiricism and objectivity of the scientific method. Even if they are based on observable evidence and follow the scientific method, part of the literature review process is to critique the studies and potentially find flaws or gaps that were not addressed. So, why do we do this in the first place?
1) Describe the multitude of reasons we conduct a literature review, from determining what was already discovered; to developing a theoretical framework; to finding flaw in the instrumentation, validity, reliability, and analysis and interpretation of data; and finding gaps in the literature. How does this position us as researchers to
How could you design a bystander intervention in your workplace for sexual harassment?
As a student of both sociology and psychology, I have found myself to be a firm believer in symbolic interactions and subsequently the social learning theory. This is not to say that what we learn from our role models is set in stone. I believe there is a fluidity in the types of people we choose to emulate based upon exposure to new experiences. What appears to be somewhat difficult to establish within the examples of intervention relating to sexual harassment is the effectiveness over time.
Lets begin with the problem: sexual harassment. A survey of employees should signify the strengths and weaknesses within the workplace and therefore give us an opportunity to address behaviors that may be interpreted as acceptable norms but are sexually aggressive in nature. The stakeholders in the intervention of these behaviors include the company itself, as it would want to legally prote

Search online, perhaps using Google images, for two public figures (athletes, celebrities, etc.) who are visibly tattooed. Addressing the questions and issues raised by your readings, explain what culturally relevant symbolic meanings those individuals tattoos might have. In what cultural context do these persons operate?
For example, how might their tattoos signify differently in the NFL vs. in the high fashion world? In mixed martial arts vs. hip hop? What do those specific tattoo styles say about ones countercultural or subcultural identity? Are they connected to any
