Can agro-ecology (i.e. more organic and environmentally-friendly techniques) be as effective in producing food as industrial farming?

This is a full-length essay of 1500 -2000 words (not more!), excluding bibliography or endnotes.
The paper should answer the research question using short case studies and at least SIX peer-reviewed sources as a minimum (no maximum).
- Use at least THREE sources from the courses required or optional readings. (I provide the articles in the attachment)
- Provide at least THREE peer-reviewed (journal) sources of your own.
The essay should include an Introduction (that outlines the theoretical framework for understanding the topic) and use examples or a case study to present and analyze the topic. The analysis must reflect your own critical understanding of the problem, and not simply describe it or summarize the analysis of others. The Conclusion should relate the research to at least some of the broader themes of the course and explore implications for policy, activism, or future research. SOCW 6060 Week 11 Discussion

Developing self-awareness starts with taking time to reflect on your own strengths and weaknesses, what distresses you, and what you find most comfortable in social work practice with your clients and colleagues. You have read about many theories and models at this point. There may have been theories and models that you were more inclined to use. Or there may have been theories and models you were not comfortable using.

The Theoretical Evaluation Self-Test (TEST) was developed by Daniel Coleman. It is a quantitative instrument that measures a therapist's theoretical orientation. It consists of 30 close-ended statements with a 7-point Likert scale, asking the extent of agreement about psychotherapy, the human psyche, and the therapeutic process (Coleman, 2003, p. 74). The seven theoretical orientations that are measured are psychodynamic, biological, family systems, ecosystems, cognitive, pragmatic, and humanistic.

Coleman (2003) cautions that the TEST is not meant to give

The problem-solving model was first laid out by Helen Perlman. Her seminal 1957 book, Social Casework: A Problem-Solving Process, described the problem-solving model and the 4Ps. Since then, other scholars and practitioners have expanded the problem-solving model and problem-solving therapy. At the heart of problem-solving model and problem-solving therapy is helping clients identify the problem and the goal, generating options, evaluating the options, and then implementing the plan.

Because models are blueprints and are not necessarily theories, it is common to use a model and then identify a theory to drive the conceptualization of the clients problem, assessment, and interventions. Take, for example, the article by Westefeld and Heckman-Stone (2003). Note how the authors use a problem-solving model as the blueprint in identifying the steps when working with clients who have experienced sexual assault. On top of the problem-solving model, the authors employed crisis theory, as

This week, you will use role theory to apply to your chosen case study. In other words, your theoretical orientationor lensis role theory as you analyze the case study.

Use the same case study that you chose in Week 2. (Remember, you will be using this same case study throughout the entire course). Use the Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory, and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment.

To prepare:

Review and focus on the same case study that you used in Week 2.
Review the websites and guides for developing PowerPoint skills found in the Learning Resources.
Use Personal Capture to record the PPT slides on your screen and your audio as you present the information. You will then use Kaltura Media to upload this recording to the assignment link.
Submit a narrated PowerPoint

take a current event article and then highlight, contrast, and compare the basic sociological assumptions of two theorists, possibly MARX AND DURKHEIM and suggest how the assumptions of these theorists shapes our understanding of the topic "Neo-Functionalism and Feminists Challenge/ Feminist Theories, and society in general". In sum, how would two contrasting theorists see, interpret, and try to understand the current event.

SOCW 6060 Discussion Week 2

Theories help frame more than presenting problemsthey also frame social problems, and both types of problems can be linked in relation to client issues. For example, many scholars and social workers have attempted to understand the social problem of poverty. Turner and Lehning (2007) classified various psychological theories to explain poverty under two headings: (1) individual-related theories or (2) structural/cultural-related theories. In other words, think of these two headings as lenses in viewing poverty. In this Discussion, you apply lenses through which to understand a client's problem in relation to social problems.

To prepare:

Read this article listed in the Learning Resources: Turner, K., & Lehning, A. J. (2007). Psychological theories of poverty. Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment, 16(1/2), 5772. doi:10.1300/J137v16n01-05
Select a theory under the individual-related theories and a theory under the structural/cultural-related theories.

SOCW 6060 Week 1 discussion (2)

Social workers make decisions in practice settings based on different sources of knowledge, including their intuition, personal experiences, tradition, authority, and theories and research evidence. These sources of knowledge can be used together to contribute to decisions. Which source(s) of knowledge do you rely on? What are the strengths and limitations of each source of knowledge, and how will they affect your social work practice? For example, think about the sources of knowledge you used when you made decisions in your field experience. In this Discussion, you consider the sources of knowledge that inform your practice decisions.

To prepare: Complete the Situations 1 and 2: Making Decisions About Interventions handout. (Note: You do not need to upload the handout to the Discussion forum. The handout is intended to assist you in writing your Discussion post.)

Explain how and why your choices differed in Situations 1 and 2.
Evaluate when using intuition or personal

R Assignment

Instructions
Complete the following steps for this module's R assignment. Please note, the hospital1 data set, which is downloadable via the link in the instructions below, will be used for other R assignments later on in this course.

A director of research at an acute care hospital observes an increase in hospital length of stay (los). The director determines that this is harmful to patients and also harmful financially to the hospital. The dataset hospital1 contains data on a study the director conducted to determine which factors are related to longer lengths of stay.

Refer to your textbook and also the R screencast videos on this module's lecture page for examples.

Using the describeBy() function in the psych package create a table comparing "spouse" to "los." Then, use the data in your table to answer the following question: Which group has the higher mean/average length of stay (los)?
Copy and paste your tables from RStudio and findings into a Word docu

M4: Discussion: Data Collection

Instructions
In this module, you have been learning about various types and methods of data sampling. You and your group members will apply what you are learning in this module to the research project. As you prepare for this module's discussion, take a look back at the student satisfaction questionnaire your instructor provided in Module 3. You may also review the research proposal (Link will open in new tab.) your group submitted. After reviewing these materials, write an original post in which you address the questions listed below.

What changes to the questionnaire would you make and why?
What kind(s) of question(s) should be added pertaining to your group's research project?
Are there questions you would remove?
What data do you want to collect?
What are the special needs of the topic and community you want to study?
