Mere Christianity

*This paper would have to be cited correctly and writing in philosophy style.
*Base off the book Mere Christianity
Your paper should be divided into two parts. In the first part (which should be 2-3 pages), you will provide a summary of the book's contents. To do this well, you will have to not only present Lewis' views accurately and clearly but also make editorial decisions about which parts to discuss: you can't mention everything, so focus on the most important elements. In the second part of your paper (which should be 3-4 pages) you will offer your own critical reflections on the book, appealing to concepts, issues, and arguments we have discussed throughout the semester to inform your discussion. This portion of your paper should be focused in the sense that you should discuss only two or three issues from the book. Limiting your coverage in this way will enable you to discuss the topics you select with a good deal of depth. While you have a great deal of latitude i

Introduction
Kant's famous First Formulation of the Categorical Imperative reads, "Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law." Kant taught morality as a matter of following maxims of living that reflect absolute laws. "Universal" is a term that allows for no exceptions, and what is universal applies always and everywhere. Don't forget about the second formulation of the categorical imperative which states, "Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means." It is just as important.

What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your approach to what an utilitarian and ethical egoist would say (each independently).

Option 2: In the second option, name and describe in detail a key specific and recent social technology. What are at least two key moral problems this technology creates? What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your moral approach to what an utili

The principle of utility involves maximizing happiness as a desirable outcome of decisions. Although it does not get directly said, there is an inverse intention to minimize the undesirable outcome of disaster. Utilitarian decisions are directed toward outcomesthat is, the consequences of decisions.

We need to look at results. We first look at the actual results of an action. We judge if it was the best possible result. We can judge the actual results in comparison to other results that reasonably could be said to have been possible.

If we do not yet have the actual results of an action, we do not know if it is moral or not. We can talk hypothetically about what might happen, and then what that would show

Philosophy – Should Socrates have escaped from prison

Introduction to PhilosophyThe topic of the paper is Should Socrates have escaped from prison?

This should be 3-5 pages long, and you should offer an argument.  Your paper will be judged on the argument you give, not on the position you take.
This paper can be used as a basis for a longer paper later on. For example, MLK says that Socrates committed civil disobedience.  Socrates would probably disagree.  What do you think?  You could use this first paper as part of a longer paper.  You will have my comments on this paper, so that may help you with the longer paper.
(Note:  there are probably a thousand articles on this topic.  Dont read them.  At least, dont read them until you have turned in your paper. Actually, I would prefer if you left secondary material alone until you write your own argument based on your reading and understanding.)

Moral Relativism: A defense

Read the chapter Moral Relativism: A defense and create a short, well argued essay. Not only summarize the essay but to critically engage with the text assigned. 1. Identify the argument of the assigned text (conclusions, reasons for believing that conclusion [premises], and the evidence or example which support the reasons); 2. Create your own argument (conclusion, premises, evidence) about the argument of the text. Essay should be typed, single spaced, and 1000 words in length. Please see grading rubric attached.

The scenario:

It is mid-January. You and your team have chartered a small tourist plane. As you fly over the unknown land, the pilot gets a storm warning. To make matters worse, the engine starts sputtering and a fire breaks out. You gradually lose altitude and eventually crash-land. The small plane in which you were traveling is completely destroyed except for the frame. The pilot and co-pilot are killed, but no one else is seriously injured. The crash came suddenly before the pilot had time to radio for help or inform anyone of your position. Since your pilot was trying to avoid a storm, you know the plane was cons

Mall of America Case Study

***Please argue that Simon acted unethically and that they broke their Fiduciary responsibility towards Triple Five.***

1. What are the key facts of the case?
2. Did Simon behave ethically towards Triple Five in this case? Support your position with a discussion of fiduciary duties, other general ethical principles, and the specific key facts you identified. (Note: This assignment is not looking for legal analysis, or a review of the actual court case. We are looking for your thoughts on the ethical issues raised by the case.)

(1) identify all of the issues raised; (2) discuss any nuances of the issues; (3) review the timelines and processes involved and identify any anomalies; and (4) reach a conclusion supported by facts in the case. We do not need you to rewrite the case, but rather to cite facts from the case which support your position. You must take a position and defend it, rather than stating that there are several possible positions.

The novel, Americanah, opens in the Ivy league enclave of Princeton, NJ.  Ifemelu likes living there because she could pretend to be someone else, someone adorned with certainty (3).  But she has to go to the largely black town of Trenton, nearby, to have her hair braided.  Does this movement between cities indicate a similar split within Ifemelu?  Why has she decided to return to Nigeria after 13 years in America?
