ECOL 100 Module 2 SLP

You learned about the negative impact of economic growth and human utilization of resources that can lead to global climate change and extinction. In your Case Assignment, you reviewed many pieces of evidence and developed your own conclusions about the relationship between human activities and global climate change. Now review the conclusions that have been drawn by NASA regarding this information at NASA Climate

Part I:  A Closer Look at the Evidence

For the first part of this assignment, answer these questions using the NASA website:

Describe the graph on the NASA website. What does it show us about the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere? According to the following site (the United Kingdom's National Meteorological Service), what recent event contributed to the rising carbon dioxide levels? Met Office
The supporting data on climate change are grouped into different categories on the NASA website. How are these groups labeled? Is there agreement on th

Mass extinctions are periods in Earth's history when abnormally large numbers of species die out simultaneously or within a limited time frame. The Cretaceous-Tertiary (or K-T) extinction event is probably the best known to many people because it wiped out the dinosaurs, but many other mass extinction events have occurred throughout the history of the Earth. Some of these mass extinction events are even more devastating than K-T. The most severe occurred at the end of the Permian period when approximately 96% of all species disappeared. Many smaller-scale mass extinctions of plants and animals have occurred as recorded in the fossil records. Discover more about Earth's major extinction events below in the following Case Assignment.

Case Part I: Geologic History of Earth

The first part of this assignment requires that you consider the history of extinction on our planet.

From the Sam Noble Museum, answer the following questions:

Please analyze.
You have been hired as a consultant to provide recommendations as to whether or not an operation should invest in an electronic individual animal identification system (i.e., RFID).  Your recommendation should provide the pros and cons of such a system, what it will cost on an annual basis, and any suggested changes you might have (and why) as to the general management of the operation.  Your report should be well organized and to the point.  The people that have hired you are busy people and do not want to wade through lots of excess paper, but they are good business managers and want to make a good decision.  Thus, your report should focus on quality of information NOT quantity (i.e., you probably should be able to hit the important points in several pages of text plus any supporting tables or figures).

Stocker Hired by KeepEmAlive Stockers, LLC a stocker operation that has historically run 1,500 head per year, but this number has varied from 750 to as many as 3,000.  Calves are currently individually weighed at the ranch upon arrival when they are processed, but are not weighed at sale time as they are sold directly out of the pasture.  However, the ranch owner has indicated a willingness to set up a scale in the pasture to weigh cattle as they come off grass if it would be economical.

What is the principal evidence to support our knowledge of the Earths interior?

2.    List three principal differences between rocks and minerals.              5 points
(Note: the differences must be mutually exclusive, the characteristics must not be rephrased and repeated.)

CSR analysis

I would need 2 separate CSR analysis, Both of 3 pages. 1 analysis would be on the watch company Rolex and the other on the city of Los Angeles. I will provide the extra details asked by the lecturer in the files below. Please ignore some of the requirements in the screenshotted docs (number of analysis to be done etc...) as those requirements have changed. Please don't hesitate if you need any additional info.

For this weeks assignment you will be working on a creative story at least 750 words in length. The maximum word count should be less than 3000. For this story you will personify yourself as an atom going through a chemical reaction. At this point you should have researched some chemical reactions and are welcome to pick one of those reactions or another reaction that interests you. The bases of your story should match the qualities of the reaction that you choose to write about. Your story should have three distinct sections. First describe your life before the chemical reaction. What is your day like? Are you a loner, a single atom for example. Are you super close with your best friend, a compound were you are one of the elements maybe. Then describe what you go through when the chemical reaction occurs. Is it traumatic? Does it happen all at once or over a long period of time. What feelings do you have during this time? Then the last part of the story should talk about how your life

Depletion of the Ogallala Aquifer

This paper needs to follow this proposal: A research paper based on the question "Is sustainability possible?" In this case it is the Ogallala Aquifer. The Ogallala Aquifer is a massive underground water reservoir that is crucial to the agriculture of the United States. The reservoir covers a vast area underground of the central great plains. The Ogallala Aquifer supplies water to a large amount of crops located above it. These crops are responsible for feeding much of America. In the past decades, as population grew in the U.S., the demand on food supply also grew. This meant that more crops had to be grown. As a result, the Ogallala Aquifer continues to be pumped of water to this day. The rate at which it is being pumped greatly exceeds the rate at which the water is replenished. This is an alarming problem. The reservoir is a finite resource, just like any other. Can the Ogallala Aquifer continue to be pumped of its water at the current rate? My paper will answer this question. Addi
