The search for life in the universe

The key course themes are the origins of life, the evolution of life/intelligence, and the searches for life. You should find at least three, and preferably more, recent (i.e., within the last 3 years) sources on which to base your report. Books, magazines or newspaper articles are acceptable, as are internet web pages if you identify your sources and conclude they are providing reliable information. (For example, NASA or ESO web pages are suitable. Wikipedia may be used in a supplementary fashion only. TV documentaries and blogs are not acceptable sources of information. Unacceptable sources are articles from the Daily Mail, Buzzfeed, Fox, Natural or Breibart News. Any publication with a fringe topic (i.e., creation, alternative medicine, etc.) should be treated with caution. Your report should not use the lecture notes or the required text as primary references, and neither should it use matter copied directly. Your paper must go into more depth and detail than the textbook or the cl

Visit some of these sites and write a review of the one you found most interesting. YOU MAY NOT DO SECTION 1 (too basic). Astronomy, our solar system or other solar systems.

Astronomy, particularly the study of our solar system or other solar systems.

Very Important: Before you do anything, decide on a title for your discussion, and write "TOPIC: (fill in your title here)" on the first line of the page.
Next, leave a blank line, and then start writing your post about the new topic

Your discussion choices can be related to anything focused on Astronomy and/or planetary exploration. Here are some examples of the most popular types of posts:
Current events in the news that are related to astronomy and/or planetary exploration
A documentary that you watched about astronomy or planetary exploration
A topic that was brought up in the textbook or in lecture.
You can discuss anything you wish to discuss, so long as you choose topics that are focused on Astronomy, particularly the study of our solar system or other solar systems.

This exercise is about tracing the origins of the clothes and shoes you wear and about asking Why? The cost of labor...is important, but it certainly isnt the only factor in determining where garments and shoes are made (Domosh et al. 2013: 345).
Your essay must first describe briefly the historical and contemporary patterns of trade in primary and secondary production related to the garments industry (see textbook and PPT files for details), and their spatial distribution, in your own words. Then you will discuss the most important characteristics of the garments industry including its evolution and current state. A summary of these facts can be found in this exercises PowerPoint presentation as well.
As it is mention in the book, The Human Mosaic: ... the textile and garments industries have historically been very footloose, able to move production facilities to locations that suit manufacturers, often because of the low cost of labor. In todays global world, that tendency is e

ECOL Module 2 Discussion

In this modules discussion, we will learn about the economic and ecological impact of habitat loss on the island country of Micronesia. The Federated States of Micronesia is a country spread across the western Pacific Ocean comprising over 600 islands. Micronesia is made up of 4 island states: Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap. Watch the following video link about climate changes in Micronesia: http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/asset/prcc12_vid_mctprob1/

As you watch the video, focus on how life has changed for the islanders and the land itself.

What are some specific examples from the video that suggest ecosystems and the islanders way of life are changing?
What is a biodiversity hotspot? How does Micronesia meet the criteria for a biodiversity hotspot?
What are some of the causes for the loss of biodiversity in Micronesia? Describe at least one of the native species (either plant or animal) that is under threat due to habitat loss or degradation.
