The purpose of this assignment is to give the student(s) an opportunity to examine how representations of Indigenous people are handled in the popular, contemporary documentary/media industry. Specifically, in a documentary media review

Watch the documentary with a critical eye and think about the following while viewing

How Indigenous people are represented in the documentary
If or how Indigenous culture is dealt with in the documentary
Does the documentary accurately portray historical events or contemporary life of Indigenous people as you know it or how has this expanded your world view and /or your knowledge of Indigenous history
Does this documentary reinforce or perhaps, help to change any stereotypes of Indigenous people you may have had, or educate you on a different view of Indigenous people and their challenges.

Chapter 5 400 word response

Why is 1960 referred to as the "Year of Africa?" Why was this massive shift in the African political landscape important to the United States, and how did our civil rights problem complicate our relationships with these African nations? What other Cold War events were happening at the same time, both domestically and abroad? How was American society reacting to the events of the Cold War? What were some of the ways in which America attempted to appeal to African countries in hopes they would take the American side? How were any such efforts complicated by racist incidents in America? Reference specific incidents, and, as always, for your response, use examples from throughout the whole chapter to answer these questions.

What was the crisis in Little Rock, AR in 1957? Be detailed and specific in your explanation of the conflict that erupted and the social and political events surrounding it, using examples from throughout the whole chapter. How did the rest of the world react to what was going on in Arkansas and why was this a problem? What did the Soviets say about what was happening in America? Discuss counterterrorism operation: U.S. Afghanistan

Make sure you present examples of how the strategy was or wasn't effective. This discussion should reflect the specific wave, groups, locations, and who was conducting the Counterterrorism strategies. Were there aspects of a strategy that failed that was positive (and conversely negative aspects of successful strategies)? Were all the variables of iSTART present in the operation, and were they effective? Discuss.
