In "My 5-Paragraph-Theme Theme" Ed White uses the format of the 5-paragraph essay to demonstrate how the 5-paragraph essay can be limiting rather than helpful. Think about your own writing and how you have used the 5-paragraph essay. When have you used it in the past? How has it helped you in your writing? Taking White's essay into account, can you imagine a writing assignment where the 5-paragraph format would limit you rather than help you? How do you think about organization when you write an essay?
