Organisation Theory in Education
Organisation Theory in Education
Identify either an organisational change episode “problem” or “success” in your current or former workplace.( please write about your “problem” or “success” in school or university )
Explicitly describe, and analyse, the problem/success, in terms of the properties of a general system, and propose either solutions for the problem or explanations for the success.
Sketch a diagram of the change episode, with focus of change in the middle of your diagram and the affected subsystems around the change. Connect the subsystems with one another and the focus of the change using single or double headed arrows representing one way and two way effects.
Discuss how useful and appropriate a general systems approach is for thinking about your organisation?
The purpose of this exercise is for students to demonstrate understanding of the general systems approach through application to an organisational problem or success
(NB. There is not one unique definition of a general system, and students must answer this assignment in terms of the general concept of a system and, NOT in terms of rational, natural or open systems; answers that disregard this requirement will be penalised).
Analysis and diagram must contain these components:
Inputs,Outputs,Feedback loops,Throughput,Boundaries,Environment and Equilibrium
