1 Overview

 

This assignment gives the student the opportunity to further investigate the techniques we have been studying in class. The Bibliography of this document lists some of the classic papers from the study of Cryptography. You should select one of these papers and produce a detailed analysis of the work.

 

2 Content

 

The following outline is suggested but not required. You do not have to exactly follow the outline, but your paper, at bare minimum, needs to include some discussion of the listed topics:

 

1. Introduction

 

2. Context of the work

вЂу An overview of the technical and historical context of the work

 

3. Summary of key contributions

вЂу A short description of the “trick”, a summary of what makes this research important

 

4. Detailed description of the contributions вЂу Explain the contributions in detail, at a level that could be understood by the members of the class

 

5. Assessment

вЂу Explain how the work п¬Гts into the overall п¬Гeld of cryptography.

вЂу Show how the work has advanced the п¬Гeld

 

 

3 Formatting

Your review of the selected paper needs to be 5 to 7 pages in length. The document needs to be formatted per the commonly accepted APA guidelines and include sections and components required by those guidelines. All work should be clearly and adequately referenced and cited.

 

4 Grading

Your assignment will be graded on a 100 pt. scale with 70% of the points assigned based on the technical content of the your document and 30% based on formatting and grammatical structure.

 

Technical content will be evaluated per the following “Technical Rubric”:

вЂу Suп¬гcient material covered (20%)

вЂу Clear understanding of the material (20%) – Material presented in a logical order (5%) – Material related to topics you identify as important and not just a summary of your references (15%)

вЂу Appropriate conclusions (10%) – Draws together material to clearly demonstrate an understanding of the material presented in the paper.
